Catello Acanfora, 83, of Lyndhurst for 18 years, formerly of Carlstadt since 1980 and prior of East Rutherford, passed away surrounded by his loving family on April 30, 2021. Mr. Acanfora was born in Scafati, Italy and came to the U.S.A. when he was 21 years old. He served in the U.S. Army. For over 16 years, he worked at Clinton Industries in Carlstadt retiring in 2002 as the machine shop Supervisor. Prior he worked for Leslie Co. in Parsippany for 30 years. Catello enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden and loved a great meal, especially dessert. His greatest joy was spending time with his two grandsons. He shared their passions and would spend time teaching Catello about the working of metals and welding while supporting Luca’s love of cars and their engines. Beloved husband for 56 years of Annunziata (nee Ferrara) Acanfora. Loving father of Ralph Acanfora and his wife Anna. Cherished grandfather of Catello Acanfora and Luca Acanfora. Dear brother of Luigi Acanfora and the late Joe Acanfora and Tony Acanfora. Funeral departing from the Kimak Funeral Home, 425 Broad Street, Carlstadt on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at 9:00 AM for a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, East Rutherford at 9:30 AM. Entombment Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Visitation Monday 5-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
