I read the news on messenger
Your sister, Jean, sent me last nite
They took you off the ventilator
Preparing you for your eternal flight

As I write these words
I’m overcome with grief
The tears are streaming down my face
I am still… in disbelief

You and George were supposed to
Visit Rob and me in July
But now you rest in hospice
As I sit here and cry

I know you’re still HighBridge tough
So please be brave
Wherever you travel

And when you look back
Please smile at us
While our hearts unravel

I’m sure it’s hard to leave behind
George, Brian and Miranda
I know your sweet little granddaughter
Brings you so much joy and laughter

Feeling over-whelmed, as I write this
I stepped outside for some fresh night air
I held my cat, Jax, in my arms
Needing comfort from somewhere

I had to cuddle a loved one close
As I stared up at the stars

I thought to myself
As I spoke your name

Now…the Universe is yours

As we stood in the dark
On my front porch
I heard a night bird sing
Perched on high
From within her nest
On a tree branch
Above my head
She sang:
My name is Ellen
And I am finally free
All I want for you is
To be happy for me
My time with you
Was so very brief
But, every moment mattered
Please forgive me for having left you
And you heart for feeling shattered.

I have no pain, only joy
Something you won’t yet understand
I feel only bliss and
And when your time comes
I’ll be there to hold your hand

It’s been over forty years
Since I have seen your face
I couldn’t wait to hold you in my arms
And share a warm embrace

They way good friends are supposed hug
Squeezing with all our might
Nothing in this mean old world
Could ever feel so right

We were supposed to laugh and
Reminisce about HighBridge days gone by
And maybe shed a few good tears
Between the giggles and the sighs

All of our lives were so intertwined
Before we scattered to the four winds
But, memories live on forever
In reality and in our dreams

I hope my thoughts can reach you
Please know you’re not alone
Sleep in peace my dear friend
On your journey home

We lost Ellen at 5AM this morning
This is dedicated to Ellen Kohutanycz

I am so sad about the passing of Ellen she was a very good friend to me. I met Ellen when I was 24 when I moved into my first apartment in Brookchester she lived right next-door to me and I was so afraid to move out from my parents house and she told me not to worry that she would take me under her wing and she did we became such close friends we did everything together. I haven’t seen Ellen in many years but that never changed our friendship we still always talked on Facebook. I have so many memories of Ellen so many good times and I’m going to miss her. My condolences to her son Brian and the rest of her family, rip my friend I love You. Donna Tartini
